Additional OTOY Octane details?

    This talk seems to suggest lightmap baking is working with Octane in Unity, today(!) I cannot find any resources or confirmation of this fact, other than his word in the video.

    Has anyone completed a successful lightmap bake in Unity using the Otoy 2017.2 Preview Edition?

    Good question, but I don't know. Otoy wants to update when I pull down the sample scene from Asset Store, but never can.

    It will be available when 2017.2 officially released (I Think)
    Follow in otoy forums about new update release
    Current release is just for 2017.1 without new baking features

    Right? This is the third time he has said that, but I cannot find a download link anywhere. I replied to him on Twitter, although I doubt I will get a response. I'm hoping the mods will post updates on the Otoy forum as soon as the download becomes available. I would really prefer they release the plugin directly from their website, rather than through Asset Store.

    I think he just misspoke, since on that forum thread someone from otoy says they are working with Unity on getting some edge cases fixed and will keep us informed.

    @buttmatrix I was kind of wondering the same thing, is it on the beta Octane render that we download when we got octane? @elbows true, What forum thread says that? Can you possibly drop a link?

    This is more or less how I feel about it at this time. Even if the tech is out:

    1. I have no idea where to get it - unless its wrapped in one of the Asset Store sample scenes
    2. I have no idea how to use it.

    No chance that I'm going to dig through Otoy's plugin for days trying to understand the UI without a step-by-step description.

    Got it :) Cause I know it’s possible to install/uninstall octane from a project and check for updates. Didn’t know if it was possible :)

    Does anyone know how to render foliage with OctaneRender in Unity? Right now it seems to only work with the Standard Shader, which is no good for any trees and foliage. Is there perhaps an octane shader we can use instead?
